Too many families in IL-07 are struggling to afford a safe and stable place to live. Rents are rising, wages are not keeping pace, and federal investments are not meeting the demand for more affordable housing. Housing is the foundation of opportunity, but far too many people are being left without it. Housing should be a human right, not a lottery.
What I Have Done: I have fought for equitable development, held institutions accountable for displacement, and pushed for transparency in how public dollars are spent.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
I believe that healthcare is a human right. Today, far too many people are forced to decide between their health and paying their bills, many people skip preventive care because of the lack of access to healthcare and many skip urgent care because they cannot afford it. Our communities face too many preventable health disparities and these will only further increase with the recent increase in insurance premiums.
What I Have Done: I have advocated for expanding public health resources, safe staffing laws, and challenged policies that undermine access to care in Illinois.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
I believe there is a gun epidemic in our country. Every year, gun violence claims lives, traumatizes neighborhoods, destroys families and blocks opportunity and a safe environment for thousands of Americans. Congress has refused to act and to pass legislation that meaningfully reforms our access to guns to prevent unnecessary deaths.
What I Have Done: As CCPSA President, I advanced community-led safety strategies, invested in violence prevention, and demanded accountability.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
In order for us to compete in a global economy we need to invest in maintaining a quality education system. Education should create pathways, not debt traps. Rising tuition and underfunded schools make opportunity unequal and it curtails people’s access to higher earning jobs and livable wages. Thus, I believe that we need to invest in tuition-free community college as well as invest in vocation training and certifications that allow people to gain the skills needed to switch careers or earn a higher wage.
What I Have Done: I have fought for investments in youth programs, apprenticeships, and pathways to union careers.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
My approach to foreign policy centers on proactive diplomacy and a humanitarian approach. I believe that genuine national security is best achieved by strengthening and reinforcing international human rights, international law, and global cooperation before resorting to harsher measures or military intervention. To this end, we should strive to protect human rights and increase funding for foreign aid and initiatives that allow us build trust globally.
What I Have Done: I have championed transparency, accountability, and community-centered approaches to safety.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Working families are getting crushed by rising costs of rent, grocery bills, utility costs, and stagnant wages. In addition, the cost of quality childcare and college debt is making it impossible for people to buy a home or have a family. The cost of childcare is forcing many parents, especially women, out of the workforce.
What I Have Done: I have successfully helped lead fights to raise wages and protect working people from corporate greed. (Fight for $15, Fair Workweek, Paid Leave for All). I have championed investments in care workers and demanded fair pay and standards.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Workers are under attack while corporate profits soar. As a Union Organizer and Leader I understand the need to center workers and protect their right to collective bargaining, to ensure safe working conditions and dignified, livable wages. Strong unions mean strong communities.
What I Have Done: I helped lead the fight for a 15 dollar minimum wage in Chicago and have organized alongside workers demanding dignity as a labor leader.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Everyone deserves to feel safe and to live in safe environments. I believe that safety requires trust, but unchecked systems have harmed communities for generations.
What I Have Done: As CCPSA President, I strengthened civilian oversight, shut down the harmful and discriminatory gang databases, and pushed forward real reforms to make policing more transparent and accountable.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Immigrant communities in this country have been under attack for the past decade. Families fleeing violence and poverty face cruelty, chaos, and exploitation like we have not seen in decades and we are failing to protect them. I believe it’s time to stop scapegoating immigrants for our failing economy and instead provide ways to legalize the over 11 million undocumented people who live and contribute to our country.
What I Have Done: I have fought against the illegal ICE raids that are tearing our families apart, have been outspoken about the need for due process, and have condemned the aggressive and unaccountable enforcement tactics used by ICE.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Currently, our justice system punishes poverty, criminalizes trauma, and fails to deliver fairness. We must reform our justice system to be one that transforms, restores and is equitable regardless of gender, race, and class.
What I Have Done: I have pushed for alternatives to incarceration and championed community-based approaches to safety and accountability.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Politicians desperately want to strip away bodily autonomy and threaten the right to make personal healthcare decisions. This is wrong and I believe we need to fight this and protect people’s bodily autonomy.
What I Have Done: I have advocated and fought for reproductive justice and policies that protect privacy and safety.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Pollution, flooding, and toxic industries disproportionately harm Black and Brown neighborhoods. I grew up in Back of the Yards, a stone’s throw away from the meat processing plants and manufacturing companies that pollute the air around the Stockyards. As a result, I have Asthma and need to carry an inhaler with me at all times. The 90% of water pipes all throughout the west side and south side of Chicago need to be replaced because they have lead. We deserve to breathe clean air and drink clean water and Congress has a responsibility to make sure we have protections and regulations in place to protect communities from pollution and toxic waste.
What I Have Done: I have championed community-driven environmental solutions and transparency around harmful industrial practices.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
As the grandson of people who fought for voting rights during the Civil Rights Movement, I am deeply committed to protecting our right to vote. The Trump administration has continuously attacked and threatened our democracy through voter suppression and gerrymandering and I intend to fight back with all my might once elected to Congress.
What I Have Done: I have organized to protect elections, expand access to democratic participation, registered new voters and organized Capitol Hill lobbying days to advocate for voting rights.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Seniors are being squeezed by rising costs, inadequate care, and threats to Social Security and Medicare. As more and more people age in our country, we need to adapt to the new reality that our care system is not adequate to provide the care needed to live dignified lives in their silver years. We must transform the ways we care for our seniors and establish better and more affordable systems of care for our elderly population.
What I Have Done: I have fought for funding to improve care systems and strengthen the care workforce.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
The LGBTQ community is currently facing attacks from cynical reactionaries who seek to use them as a scapegoat to divert attention from more significant issues. Many challenges within our communities related to healthcare, income inequality, and the justice system—are amplified within the LGBTQ community.
LGBTQ folks experience a disproportionate rate of physical and mental health issues and often struggle to find competent, affirming healthcare providers. On average, they earn less than the general population and endure increased levels of workplace harassment and discrimination. Furthermore, LGBTQ individuals are four times more likely to experience violent victimization and three times more likely to be incarcerated. These issues are particularly acute for Trans Americans, with Black Trans women facing devastating levels of violence and inadequate healthcare access.
As your Congressman, I commit to taking the following actions:
Today, too many young people in the 7th District face barriers to jobs, safety, and opportunity.
What I Have Done: I have worked alongside community leaders, educators, and organizers to demand more jobs, mentorship, and safe spaces for young people who are too often ignored.
As Your Congressman, I Will:
Our campaign is 100% people-powered. Join us to keep building the movement.
